Who can apply for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Examinations
Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India has launched a centrally sponsored National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme. Under this scheme scholarship will be awarded to 1,00,000 students (at National level) selected at the end of class 8. The scholarship will start from Class IX and would continue till Class XII at the rate of Rs 6000/- per annum. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarship to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at Class VIII and to encourage them to continue their studies till Class XIIThe State Council Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala is conducting National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSE) for selecting talented students from financially backward families. Students studying at 8th standard in any Government / Government aided schools in Kerala may apply for NMMS Examination. The annual income of the guardian of the student should be less than 1,50,000/- and the student should earn at least 55% marks in previous year examination (7th standard annual examination).

Model Question Papers for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Examinations
SCERT conducts National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Examinations as 2 part, each part has 90 minutes duration. The first part is Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which contains 90 questions from Social Science, Science and Mathematics in Kerala 8th Standard syllabus.
